DIAZ GAVE THE FULL REPORT TO GRANGE ONCE THEY GOT BACK to their room. Okay, not the full report—he left the sex parts out. There were some things Grange didn’t need details on. He and Jessie having repeated hot sex was one of those.

Grange also let them know about the satellite information from the campsite they’d discovered. It definitely appeared to be an encampment. Satellite infrared counted about twenty people. Maybe survivalists, maybe not, but Grange didn’t feel that group was big enough to be the one they were hunting for.

So they were back to square one.

At least they were now in with the Skulls and taking off with them tomorrow for the river, an area deep in survivalist country. They should make some serious headway and soon. Which meant Diaz had to become Crush’s best friend.

“So we’re in. Now what?” Spence asked, sitting on the window ledge in Diaz and Jessie’s room.

“Now we embed, get as close to as many of the members as we can, and hopefully find out something. Keep your eyes and your ears open.”

“Stephanie knows everyone,” Spence said. “I’ll make sure she takes me around and introduces me. I’ll get close.”

Diaz nodded. “Jessie’s already tight with Crush. I need to get tighter, get him to start trusting me. The best way to get in on the secrets of this gang is to get front and center in their organization.”

“That isn’t going to happen overnight,” Jessie said, toeing off her boots and pulling her legs onto the bed. She scooted backward and fluffed the pillows so she rested against the headboard.

“No, it isn’t. But the more he trusts us, the more he’ll give us in the way of information. He already knows you from before,” Diaz said, nodding his head toward Jess. “And the three of us didn’t hesitate when it came to the bar fight. Plus, tonight we were all in. Every step we take ingrains us further into their core group. I can already tell Crush trusts us more each day.”

“And if there’s friction between him and Rex, that means Crush is looking for allies,” Spence reminded them.

Diaz nodded. “Exactly. Which means we need to be there for him. He needs people he can trust.”

“He told me once he isn’t close to a lot of people,” Jessie said.

“And that can work to our advantage.” It was about time things went their way. Diaz needed some action, needed this case to move forward.

“I’ll head on out,” Spence said, pushing off the window ledge. “I’m beat.”

“See you in the morning,” Diaz said, closing and locking the door behind Spence.

It was already three in the morning. They weren’t going to get a lot of sleep. When he walked back into the room, Jessie was yawning.

Still, his cock twitched to life. Just seeing her kicked back on the bed, being alone with her, drove his urge to be inside her. Hadn’t he had enough? When would he be satisfied?

Never.

Her lips lifted in that lopsided smile as he approached the bed.
